Free Specsavers Eye Test Voucher (WH Smiths Purchase)

Hellooooo :D

At the moment if you make a purchase at W H Smiths they're giving out a free eye test voucher for Specsavers.

I don't know whether anyone could confirm if this is a regional thing, (I'm in Kent), although I'd have thought it'd be everywhere as they're both nationwide companies. :)

In my local Specsavers, eye tests are £19.50 so it's quite a big saving :)

Such free offers are usually limited to the specified stores on the voucher.

You can usually get a free eye test at Specsavers if you ask them nicely (and go on to buy your specs from them).

If you just want a free eye test - go to Tesco ;)

The issue with not buying your specs from the place you had the eye test is that if you are not then happy with the specs, assuming they were correctly manufactured, you will spend a lot of money on useless specs.

I had 3 free eye tests from Specsavers (as well as free replacement specs - I only paid once) until they managed to produce some specs that suited me :)

My local Smiths (Wiltshire) gives away £30 voucher for Very although there is a Specsavers a few shops away.

The voucher I've seen gives you just a free eye test, you don't need to purchase spectacles and there are no limitations on stores as far as I can see.

Wywth is sort of right about buying glasses in a different place to where you had the sight test. If the glasses aren't right and they find that it is a problem with the prescription that you were issued, then really you need to go back to where you had the eye test done and get them to do a re-test (which they should do for free).

Yes, but the point is that the company you paid £X to for glasses are in no way at fault as they made them correctly to specification, so the point is that you would have to try to get a refund for your glasses from the company that did the prescription. Sometimes problems are not noticed straight away and it might only be weeks later you reslise it's the glasses causes your new headahces. You might be able to take the optician that produced the prescription to court and you might win having spent a court fee and day off work, but I think you can see there is some downside.
If the same company got the prescription wrong and made the wrong glasses you'd have a MUCH better chance of getting a refund or getting your glasses exchanged free of charge.

Personally I've been using seperate opticians for over 30 years and never had an issue but my presciprion will be getting more complex (varifocals) so I think it's a good point.
If you work with VDU's all day you'll probably find your employer has to fund your eye test (although I prefer to use a voucher rather than reclaim expenses).
