New Tax Code question

Options
My Son has 2 jobs a full-time job that he has been in for almost 2 years salary around £15K and a part time job which he currently earns about £500 a year, although the second job will end in April.
He has just been sent 2 letters one for each job and both say his 2013-2014 tax codes will be BR.
Surely one code should show his personal allowance? I thought that would be the code for his main job?
Can anyone advise?

You are correct in your assumption. Get him to phone the tax office and get it changed.
  • What were the codes for the current/previous years?

The allowance for 2011-12 was 747 so he may owe tax for that year. What are the codes on his current pay slips ?

Which is correct but the PT job should be BR, if they have just carried forward it may not be so he could be underpaying this year.

    no

    the normal situation would be
    944L for the main job
and BR for the part time job

however he may owe some tax for previous years
