  • I had to pay £19 at the Post Office today for a postal order (medical form for uni course next year) and 3 recorded letters.

I also have to go to the dentist tomorrow, which will prob set me back about £45.

It leaves me with about £60 to play with until payday. :(

    Not. Very. Happy.

    Hi Sadgirl

sorry you are having a bad day. Please seek help from CCCS, payplan or national debt helpline. If you go bankrupt it might affect your business dependant on the status of it. It is likely to affect you if you have a business bank account and if you owe your bank you will have to open a basic bank account with another bank and you may not get a debit card and certainly not a cheque book and very poor online banking with some banks.

If I was in your shoes, I'd get a lodger and in the mean time look at selling the house. Its harsh and not ideal but BR will have a much larger impact. Do cancel those DDs as some one else suggested to save you anymore charges.

take care and keep posting you arent alone we're all here to support you.

Hey there, just wanted to send you a hug and let you know that we're all here to help/listen. Bankruptcy is a major step, don't go down that route if there are other ways around it. Let the people on here have a look at your SOA and see if they can come up with something, there must be ways round it.

I remember being swallowed up with panic when I realised that I couldn't pay my debts and didn't know who to turn to but I wrote everything down, wrote to everyone I owed and am now still in debt but I'm managing it.

If you act positively, i.e. doing your SOA, writing to creditors etc you will feel more positive about the situation.

Good luck, look forward to seeing your progress!

    Hi Sadgirl

Look at the CCCS site. A DMP could be the solution for you.

    Hi Sadgirl

Not really able to give that much advice as i'm new to this. However, what I can say is that I have recently set up a DMP with CCCS. I owe just over 30,000 of debt and have £181 of disposable income to go towards this debt. If I was you I would definitely contact them ASAP. They are really helpful and from the moment I contacted them I felt huge relief. I see from your previous SOA link that your partner is unaware of this debt. I am in the same situation as my partner does not know the extent of my debt. I wish I could pluck up the courage to tell him as I think this would help but can't bring myself to do it yet as i am not sure how he will react.

Can I ask, what equity do you have in your property? If it is more than your current unsecured debt, then you are not insolvent! It's just that your money is tied up in bricks and mortar. Therefore, contact CCCS/ Payplan, arrange affordable payments on your unsecured debt, and stick to it. If the equity is not as much as the debt, remember that it will go up, your debt will come down, and you will be in control via CCCS/Payplan. Hope this makes sense!

Thanks for your kind words. I had a little saving grace today. I was paid £150 for in advance work, and got a new client (£20 a week) which will cover some of the direct debits. I can't cancel the other as it's due too soon (Within 5 days) What can ccs do? What are they? Does it affect your credit rating and stuff? Debt management plan? I don't know enough about these things probably, and to be honest, my head is spinning from everything I keep reading, and I'm struggling to read these sites and take anything in. I just keep reading for some glimmer of hope.
I have about £130 equity in my house, but I can't get my mortgage upped to cover debts. Tried 2 years ago. maybe I should try again, but I can't see them doing it. I also have a secured loan of about £45k.
