Having taken advantage of the Canon offer this weekend, others may be interested to know 7 Day Shop are selling 4GB Secure Digital High Capacity memory cards for a bargain price of £17.49, plus postage (£3.95 for standard).

It's a class 4 card (4MB/sec guaranteed mimimum speed) and the link is below.

Please note SDHC *is not* backwards compatible with SD.

* edited as link was pointing to Sandisk Class 2 card

I think you need a separate SDHC reader also (connecting via USB) for SDHC cards. A number of other online retailers have been supplying a "bundle" of reader and SDHC card.

Can anyone confirm or correct me?

You won't need a reader if you are not needing to connect it to your PC.

I see it's a Sandisk. I was under the impression that Sandisk always supply these with their "Micromate" SDHC card reader. You can see it on this page.

So either 7 day shop forgot to mention it is included, I'm wrong about it always being bundled, or they've got hold of of batch of dodgy fakes from the Far East.

I'm hoping for the first on that list as if so this is a bargain.

It says on the webpage you pointed to "included as BONUS is our new MicroMate™ SD/SDHC compatible, high-speed USB 2.0 Reader! "

So it seems that it does come without the reader which as I said is not needed unless you want to connect to PC (just like any other memory card). Make sure though that your device (e.g. camera) is SDHC compatible.

The card mentioned by OP is an SD card (SD-HC to be precise) and not a MicroSD which I guess is what your device uses.

Who says it's a Sandisk? Clearly also says "PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BRAND MAY VARY FROM PICTURE DISPLAYED - MANY THANKS"

Yes you do need SD-HC compatible hardware (includes the card reader) to use them.

Good price. I paid £65 for one a few months ago :-O
The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster! :)

I think the original poster originally linked to a Sandisk 4 Gb SDHC card available at £17.99 from 7DayShop and then subsequently changed his posting? [If I am wrong I stand to be corrected.]

    Sandisk card at

    http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_6&products_id=102253

I know which I would take between a "no name" or a Sandisk if the Sandisk was only 50p more (even if the no-name is "faster" than the Sandisk seeing as there are very few cameras/applications that would benefit from the faster speed).

You can also buy the Sandisk SDHC reader from 7DayShop for £4.99. So from 7DayShop Sandisk Card plus reader plus postage (£3.95) is a total of £26.93.

Whereas Play.com have the same bundle including delivery for £24.99

My card arrived today, it's a "Dane-Elec", it works a treat.

If anyone else bought a Canon Powershot over the bank holiday then I recommend these cards, they're class 4, and a million times better than the paltry 16mb, slow Canon card that came with the camera. I can now shoot movies at 640x480 and store them almost instantly. :j

As an unexpected bonus, if anyone got a small SD card reader from Poundland (translucent yellow with "SD/MMC/RS-MMC" written on them) they read SDHC. If anyone didn't get one of the Poundland card readers I heartily recommend you go out and get one!

If any Ebay profiteers are reading this, please leave some for other people to enjoy.
