I just stumbled on this thread. Sorry to bump, but I felt I have to add my bit. I agree with every syllable the OP said. I'm not using the forum much at the mo, only because I'm busy on other stuff. But when I'm here, for the most part, I just love this forum. The spirit of it, the friendship, how we all try to help and support one another, and so on. But like the OP I feel that when people play the 'comping police' it really does fly in the face of all that's good about the forum.

I'm using the term as the OP did, not about anyone helping to manage the boards effectively, but when people think they have the right to preach their opinions with authority. It is being moaned at about the unwritten 'rules' , rather than helping members adhere to the actual rules, that I find destructive. And even when people do need to be pointed in the right direction re the rules, it is important to speak kindly.

I also think it's a shame to let the trolls win though, by not posting wins or whatever. Though I do understand that it must be very horrible and stressful being personally attacked like that. If there is anything more cowardly than trolling, I've yet to find it.

Love n' blue skies peeps X

I am curious. How do you "cheat" in competitions? I have seen a post on Winners Circle saying that no posts are allowed complaining about cheating.

I can't fathom HOW to cheat at a competition!

Commonly by breaking the rules/T&C. Suppose the T&C state, "One entry per person" then it would be cheating to enter more than once, whether using a different name/email address or not. Or a comp might state that winners will be chosen at random, but the comping detectives find out that actually the winner is a relative. That sort of thing - hope I'm not giving you tips ;o)

Oh dear lord, no Blulu. I have only just got enough time in my days to enter each competition once!!! :D:D

Yes, I have seen various forum comments about relatives and employees being "lucky winners" of competitions.
