Wot the govt needs to do is to build more affordible house for people like me.
My rent has gone up every year since I moved out of my mum's house. 6% this year.
It is a disgrace.
BTL speculators should be taxed really high, rents should be kept down by the government, and the government should build more houses for people like me.
How is anyone expected to be alboe to buy a house when rents kepp going up and up?

How about rather than a council housing type set up a 'Government shared ownership option'. One of the main problems with council housing was the tenant had no stake in the place. If they had say a % ownership option with a right to buy at any time and had to put down a reasonable deposit the incentive to maintain would be there. I know there are housing associations that do something similar but couldn't the government do something of there own?0

People will change the UK if they want to. The Government doesn't have the firepower to do little more than tinker round the edges. Can in reality only set a stable framework for the future.0
