Interesting question. According to their accounts "the majority of funding is a donation from the creditors i.e. a fair share contribution towards all advice, counselling, debt management administration and all other services provided by the charity". The statement of Financial Activities (year ended 31 Dec 2011) shows this income as £30 million ! Income from "Insolvency Service" was £2.7 million.

By contrast voluntary donations were only £1,760.

It looks to me that StepChange get their money from the creditors, after all it is a two way deal, and do not actively seek voluntary donations.

I presume you can if you so wish send a cheque made payable to

    FOUNDATION FOR CREDIT COUNSELLING

with a covering note / letter to

    11TH FLOOR
    WADE HOUSE
    MERRION CENTRE
    LEEDS
    LS2 8NG

But from my review of the accounts, I don’t think they need much help themselves, thankfully.

Thats one of the most thorough answers I have ever been given!

    Thanks

    Hi there,

It's a lovely gesture that you would want to donate to us, but we don't accept cash donations from members of the public.

Instead, if you'd really like to make a donation to a worthy cause, our sister charity Credit Action does some wonderful work with finance education for thousands of people across the UK.

While it's not a monetary donation, we are always grateful when someone spreads the word about us. many people who contact us did so because a friend told them about us. :)

Thank you again for your kind offer, and best of luck!

    Rachel
