Wow, you are an inspiration to all of us on here and I actually feel ashamed that you have managed to get where you are while Mr AJM and I earn a lot and don't quite do things in the same way. You have come such a long way already and I have no doubt you will achieve MF status too. I will watch your thread with interest and hopefully learn something along the way that will help us.
Aw AJM there is nothing to be ashamed about at all - trust me when i had a good income i wasted so much of it and its only since losing my job and having to cope on very little that my outlook and behaviour has changed A LOT
i took my income for granted and was very silly with it - its easy to get out of good financial habits when you have money to spare.....you should be proud of even knowing about this forum if you don't have any money worries

I learnt when I was a student the real value of money, funnily enough I didn't quite grasp that the money on the credit card was not mine and I had 2 jobs to get me back on the right side of 0, the day I finished uni I had £500 in the bank and no debt! We are good with budgetting everything but we are also quite wasteful because we can. We are slowly trying to address this, my problem is I want to be able to everything with my money.MFW 2026 No. 7 £1614.62/£5000

Funny my debt problems started at uni too, tho I should have known better as I was 30 when I went! I was always good with money until I had to use credit cards to buy food after a car accident left me unable to work
after that it just seemed like I crossed over to the dark side and I didn't think about adding more debt to the mountain I had by then. Dear knows what mess today's students will get into!!!! well I have been debating hard over my finances and have come up with a plan. I really really want to be working on the mortgage but my interest rate is currently just 1.5%. I have now opened a regular savings account paying 4% and am going to try to add around £100 a month to that for 12 months. I am also going to try to get up to 3 months ahead with my mortgage payments just as a kind of safety blanket. How am I going to do it? well I have a house full of clutter I'm hoping to sell on
