Are we to take on RBS bad debts?

    Yes - if that is the 'good' bit, no wonder they have no idea how bad the bad bit is.

    I guess the risk is that the split is done for political reasons to allow for an early sale of the good bit and it turns out that this is done too cheaply thus privatising the gains whilst leaving the losses with the public sector.

    I am all in favour of splitting up RBS. I am not sure they should be in a rush to sell however as I doubt that good or fair value could be achieved currently.

    Not that this will stop them when they see the ££ signs :eek:
