Hi, I went bankrupt nearly a month a go and my bank and creditors have heard nothing from the OR as yet. How long does it normally take?

When I went BR I did not wait for the OR to inform them. I wrote to each and every one of them enclosing a photo copy of the bankruptcy order. I did this the day after my BR.0

Hi,
I have contacted all of them and told them and gave them the information, but they have all said that they will still call and write asking for money until they have written confirmation from the OR. had a threatening letter from one of them yesterday (final demand). They seem to have the attitude that yes you have told us and yes we can see that you are on the register but until we hear from the OR we will hound you.0 -
It can take up to 8 weeks for it to filter through. Ring your OR and tell them what is happening.:pB&SC No. 298

When I went BR I could not wait for Bailiffs etc to call, I was looking forward to it because I was able to show them the Document from the Court and was relishing as I had been put through absolute hell by these people, calling here on phone and knocking the door until just before the 9pm cut off time.
My OR told me that if anyone calls looking for money just refer them to me quoting the Court and Case Number and they should just walk away.
In fact the lady who took the money of us in the Court could see we were genuinely relived it was all over when the DJ signed the order and offered us the above advice even before we had a meeting with the OR in Companies House in Cardiff. That was the longest 4 hours of my life. But when it ended it was like a weight was lifted from our shoulders. No more refusing to answer the door, hiding away from the house all day etc.
Best thing that ever happened to us, before the great news we got yesterday.
So, I would say, just quote Court & Case Number and any decent Debt Collecting Company will walk away.
As for local Debts i.e. Council Tax I called the Council myself and explained and she accepted it and said she will mark it down as unenforceable.
Hope this helps.0 -

That's pretty much how I have experienced things since BR.
The, I wouldn't say nasty, phone calls, but the very abrupt phone calls have slowly stopped since my BR on Jan4th this year, apart from Nram and Creation finance.
In the end I disconnected my landline and told family and friends and important people, i.e work, the OR etc to only contact me via my mobile.
It must of worked because I plugged the landline back in two weeks ago and haven't heard a peep since - I've done it now, you wait, tonight I'll have bloody Nram on the blower again!:DAdvertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy crap we dont need!:think:0 -
From my own experience; the OR *does* let the creditors know, but it can take quite a while: I think they have about 10 weeks from the date of your bankruptcy to do so, and it is more likely to be much closer to the deadline before they do. I was warned that this may happen, so I wrote to all the creditors about a week after the bankruptcy, to let them know about it, and enclosed copies of both my husband's bankruptcy order AND mine, telling them that they should now send ALL correspondence to the OR.
However, it didn't stop them hounding us. Even though 2 months after the bankruptcy, the OR confirmed our bankruptcy as well! We got our landline changed and got new mobiles, so they couldn't hound us; but they kept on and on, harassing us via the post, and threatening to take us to court, and to come and send people to have a 'chat' with us. We told the OR, (when this was still going on four months after the bankruptcy,) but he said they couldn't do anything and they hadn't got a leg to stand on, so we 'shouldn't worry.'
Six months after the bankruptcy, they were STILL hounding us, and we had finally had enough, so we decided to tell the OR that we wanted to take further action against them. He wrote a stern letter to them all (four in total,) and told them to stop harassing us, and that they were actually breaking the law in doing so.
We never heard from any of them again.
But yes, I would write to them if I were you, but it may not stop the calls and letters. You may need to threaten them with legal action and get the OR to write to them, before they stop.0 -
Thanks for all the replies, It's mainly Barclay Card that are the culprits.
