Totally agree with you, especially in these tough economic times. However, the way I have seen it handled is if the company does bring it in and the majority of employees don't like it, they can choose to 'work to rule' (does anyone work their contracted hours only - no staying back late - if it is an extremely busy period at work?). 'Work to rule' will usually lose a company more money.

I always think these things are resolved more easily with a bit of compromising between both parties.

And thank you for letting me know how to quote.

Which is easily recovered with a pay cut or two; or a redundancy or three...

The OP states they work in a warehouse so usually you do only work to your contacted hours.

As we work in the parcel delivery industry we handle alot of different goods, such as paint, oil etc etc. although they do supply gloves they are of low quality and alot of staff choose not to wear them at all, even if you do wear them your hands will end up dirty either way. It is not just your hands, the warehouse is dusty and at the end of the shift you will find your nose full of dust and dirt just from being in the warehouse. your face will be dirty, your clothes dirty and possibly covered in paint etc..

I think most people are annoyed because its just one thing after another, they recently took the radio off us too. I know it doesn't sound much but the morale of the work force is dropping week by week.

I take it they took the radio of you because they had to pay PRS or the other one? That's fair enough really as its costly. If you really want it then why not offer to band together and pay for it?

0 minutes to wash your hands, ive worked in dirty places before, handling grease etc, couldnt leave the section until we were told eg by the alarm. I did time it so I washed my hands before I clocked out at previous employer.
