BR 3 Years On

Been a long time since I last logged on, but an update of how things have gone.

I went BR in November 26 2009. A number of reasons lead to this. Working for a charity on a low salary for 10 years, an ex that did me over, but all in all living beyond my means. Yes I was low paid, but I should have adapted to this salary (I halved my salary to join the charity). The debt sort of snowballed slowly after over 10 years.

So I took the plunge of BR, after many, many sleepless nights, weeks, months. We literally couldn't afford to eat. I went through the process alone, no help from CAB, solicitors etc. Funnily enough I found this forum just 3 hours before I was due in court.

So three years on how are things? The first 12 months went well, no hassle from my creditors. I was discharged on the anniversary of the BR. The past two years have flown by. I moved job, and then moved job again. I am now earning money I never thought I would see (not a lot but enough to now be more than comfortable) through some blooming hard work. I have a 18 month year, beautiful boy, hence the long time since I have logged in. We suffered 4 miscarriages when my debt was effecting us both. Once I stood up and tackled it head on, I'm sure it took a lot of stress of my partner and this is what helped little Tommie come bounding into our lives.

And I look forward now and in November it is four years, two years to I can start moving on with my life again.

So to any worrying lurkers on here, stand up to your problems and your life can change for the good, a second chance.

And last of all (nearly) the people who post and advise on this forum are god sends. People that have all expereinced the same problems, who don't judge you on your situation, there is a genuine WANT and desire to help.

Finally, I'm sure it has been mentioned on here a number of times, but having got the baby to bed I now have to take the dog for a walk. What is the situation for buying property/mortgages etc for BRs/Ex BRs? How long could I expect to have to wait and credit build to have a chance of seriously bwing considered for a mortgage, especially in light of the banks being unwilling to lend money to anybody at the moment.

To each and all, ONWARDS and UPWARDS

It's generally considered you will need at least a 15 percent deposit , generally more
however there has been a poster recently who managed to get a 95 percent newbuy mortgage after the 6 years are up .
