Need a visa card for travelling

Hi, my daughter is going travelling in the summer and has been advised to take both a mastercard and visa card with her. She has a mastercard from Santander which doesnt charge for using abroad (shes studying in USA) but needs a visa card. Can anyone recommend where she can get one from that ideally won't charge either?
Thanks :)

    Nationwide CC is Visa.
That said, it's advised to have Amex as well when traveling to USA, but AFAIK Amex that doesn't charge doesn't exist.

Indeed an Amex is sometimes the only card accepted at certain shops and restaurants.

Never experienced that problem personally. I wonder where it happens, some country-hick backwater maybe?
The bankers stole my pension (and everyone else's). It should have earned a lot of money, but they took their bonus pot first.

Mainly the North eastern states, New York city has several restaurants that only take American Express. Theres also a couple of shops that will only take US debit cards and Amex. Costco and some small chain stores only take Amex nationwide.

I think in NYC its because they tend to get a much lower rate if they just take Amex and to go along with it they will normally have an ATM that charges a fortune for those who don't have an Amex.

Bizarrely I've also found this in Germany. I was at a discount shop and they said they didn't take credit cards only German debit cards but that they did take American Express. Luckily my main card is an Amex so I had one (Although I don't normally use this abroad, unless its business expenses and then work pays for it anyway)

Nationwide CC charges 2%, as you know. :)

Their non charging Select CC is only available to qualifying Flexaccount holders.

Which leaves...the SAGA CC, which is only available to over 50s. If the OP qualifies, the daughter can be added as an additional cardholder.
