Hi All,
I'm querying this on behalf of a friend who works for a company based in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The company has been in trouble as of late and is making wholesale redundancies across all sites. At present a role was opened up within the company for those taking redundancy, it was a temporary role for 6 months but it would have given someone an extra 6 months employment.
When advertising the role the only stipulation indicated was that it was open to those who had accepted their redundancy package so my friend based in the NI site applied for the role in the ROI site. In the past it has been normal practice to apply for roles on different site and there are many cross border employees.
However today my friend was told by the ROI HR branch that he is not being shortlisted as he is from NI. Is this fair and normal practice?

Liberty Insurance / Quinn Direct perchance? ;-)0

Not Quinns, feel it's best not to name the company for obvious reasons, don't want this becoming another Allstate thread.0

The answer is no and the HR company are either being naive or worse.0

Just got a text from my friend, the company have admitted "unintentional discrimination" and are now considering shortlisting him for the role.0

DA, if you've something you need to say spit it out rather than trolling around acting like a idiot.0

DA has been harassing me ever since I turned down a job at Allstate as I got offered a better job elsewhere - it was no smite on Allstate just a personal choice.0
-
Harrassing? As in sending one PM wishing you well in your new job and saying you probably made a wise decision?0

You finished this thread off with your nonsense. At least you had the manners to delete some of your posts.0

Which posts would those be? I don't see any deleted posts from myself in this thread (and if you look at the post numbers, you'll see they run sequentially, hence showing that nothing has been deleted).0
