Advice needed please

Hi
My husband and i have been together for 10yrs the mortgage is in his name only, we have no joint bank accounts etc my name is on the council tax bill.
We have decided to move house my husband has seen a mortgage broker and got a mortgage AIP(from his current mortgage provider) when filling out the full application i was asked to provide a wage slip the mortgage broker said this was to prove i wasnt financially dependent on my husband (ive not had to do this in the past). does this mean i will be credit checked. the mortgage broker sent everything thru online and the application came back approved does this mean we have definitely got the mortgage.

If you are not an applicant for the mortgage, you will not be credit checked. As some lenders like to take any other occupant of the property as a dependent, getting evidence of income from you may be prudent, although I've never heard of a lender actually asking for it.

Last time one of these cases came up, Accord actually classed someone's non-applicant girlfriend as a dependent, even though she worked full-time.

    Odd.

Until the mortgage offer is in your husband's hand, I'd not count your chickens, although the signs appear encouraging, so far.

  • husband says mortgage has been approved as got online response saying approved from lender when they completed full application. maybe this is because he is staying with his current lender and borrowing an additional amount to get the new house and taking his current mortgage with him to the new house. what do you think?
he has a very good credit history and is always being offered loans etc.
  • apologies!!!!

    It's a new application.

You don't transfer a mortgage from one property to another. You can transfer the rate from the old mortgage to a new one under portability.

As I said, once the offer is in his hand, it's done.
