Unbiased?

I have never sought paid for additional independent advise regarding my finances but current work situation suggests that I need to fully explore those managing my Pension and similarly how I can lessen the likelyhood of losing my home. I am over 55 and led to believe that there is some way to get access to 'equity' but unsure what this means. If I am reading things correctly, this 'release' may help in retaining my home. Good pension investments now have those managing this making money out of me without real efforts. Someone mentioned unbiased.co.uk but unsure if this will result in someone 'yet again' taking good money from me. All advice greatfully appreciated. Need to start moving fast as the vultures are hovering.
Thankyou

    Similarly..
If I move a Pension from one Company to another, why does there need to be a Financial Advisor involved. Cant this be between me and the Pension Provider where I dont need to be funding them monthly?

Dont think you need a financial advisor, in the past I have just moved a past pension into another but double check as it was a few years ago.

My father in law took equity from his house when his wife was ill. The mortgage was already paid off so he took £20,000 from the equity (value) of his home in 1996.

He did not have to repay this until he died or sold the house but interest is added every year.

When he went into a nursing home 10 years later (2006) the amount of interest he owed was £74,000 so after selling the house was left with vitually nothing.

This is fine unless you want to leave your home to someone or need the money to fund care bills.

    Tread very carefully.

Wondering where is best to assess all the merits and disadvantages of equity release online?
