New Freezer

What a fab idea! What attachment do you blitz them on? I used to buy the frozen bags but last time decided to have a marathon onion-chop to freeze. OH much prefers our onion to the pre-frozen stuff but I wasn't looking forward to chopping up the next batch. Didn't think of using the food processor at all!
I use the slicing disk on the FP attachment that goes on the Kenwood Chef - I feed onion in the top and it slices it and shoves it out the bottom so it's easy to push a batch through quickly.Piglet

I have been given a small chest freezer which I plan to use alongside my 5' upright freezer.
Now although my current freezer always seems to be full to bursting everything does fit in there so my question is:
If you had a nice new empty freezer what would you fill it with?xxx Nikki xxx0 -
Meat! Milk. Bread (if you eat bread). Flour (I keep mine in the freezer).June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

If you are meat eaters, I would be tempted to go to my local butcher and see what sort of deal he could put together for you - buying in bulk often means he will shave some money off here and there.
Or, you could hit the supermarkets at the time they reduce everything right down (often around 7pm) and buy up "yellow sticker" items. These would usually be things like meat, bread, fish, etc - be careful to buy only what you would definitely use though otherwise it'll be a waste of your money and freezer space.
Also, make sure you pack the freezer full so that it runs economically - I use the 4 pint milk containers half-filled with water to use up any space. If you're not hungry, food isn't the answer!0 -
bread and milk. A few bags of frozen veg.
If you can't fill it all straight away, scrunched up newspaper or cardboard boxes are a good way to fill the space so the freezer works more economically.0 -
If I had a nice new empty freezer - when I have also a 5' one it would remain empty and unplugged.
Many years ago I had the same. I found I did not need a 2nd freezer.
Why store extra food? the cost of buying extra food? electric to run it? The shops are open most days. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
I'm thinking I want to utilise it to buy reduced stuff which at the moment I have to pass up if it won't get eaten that day cos it won't fit in my current freezer.xxx Nikki xxx0

If more food cannot be horded in your current freezer it is time to stop buying and eat some.
Having x2 freezers costs more in electric:(

It's like magic, no matter how much space you have you always manage to fill it.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I think if I had that luxury - it would be for my 'emergency' stash plus whatever bargains I had managed to find. any empty space I would fill with crumpled paper etc - tho I was told once that you could use air filled plastic bags???????0
