Trying to get my head straight before my CCCS and CAB interviews on Friday!
the bumf they have sent in the post says about getting a new basic bank account ASAP. So I will head into town on thursday and speak to Nationwide. Do I need to disclose my probable impending bankruptcy when I apply? I'm scared of "showing my hand" as it were and making things harder before they need to be!
I can't make all my credit card and loan payments without getting into yet more credit card debt iyswim. And I don't want to get any deeper in now. So what do i do when i don't pay? Do i say nothing, not pay, and ignore the ensuing drama? Or do i let them know what's happening? Also, if i can't pay my credit cards, but could manage, say, my car payment, is it Ok to make my car payment or will that be seen as favouring one creditor over the others? In which case if I can't pay one I should pay none? I feel like I'm tiptoeing across a minefield.
Re the SOA. My car is on HP (or PCP to be precise. I think.) HP payments come under a different section to the debts on the SOA form. Do I still also list it on the creditors list? At the end of the day, I am not going to be fighting to keep the car because it's a debt I can't afford to keep paying. So should it even be on the living expenses bit of the form at all?
Would it be really really really unacceptable to withdraw cash on my credit card to pay my bankruptcy fees? Because I don't know how else I will afford them....

Hi user,
you will be better off in the long run telling nationwide about your impending BR as they are not lightly to close the account when the OR contacts them.
i would not make any debt payments whatsoever and put the money aside i can assure you this will be fine and not frowned upon, yes you will get letters and phonecalls but just ignore them .
i would talk to the CAB about what options are available about the car to be sure .
and yes you can withdraw the money off a credit card for the fees i know quite a few of us on here have .i also withdrew all cash out of my old bank accounts .Official DFW NERD 189
I may be a woman but dont hold it against me:D

Nationwide are normally good. But there are several things to consider.
How will bankruptcy affect my bank account?
From: http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/guidanceleaflets/bankaccount/bankaccount.htmWhen the bankruptcy order is made, you should:
* immediately stop using your cheque books and bank cards; and
* hand them over to the official receiver as soon as possible.
All your bank accounts are usually 'frozen' by the bank when it becomes aware of the bankruptcy order. So you will need to make alternative arrangements for receiving money into your account and paying standing orders, direct debits etc. You should not try to open a new bank account before the bankruptcy order is made, because this account will also be frozen.
Some banks may allow you to keep using your existing bank account. But even if your bank agrees to this, they will freeze the account when they first hear about the bankruptcy order.
The OR may give you leave to continue using an account, but it is not guaranteed that the OR will do this, or the the bank will not close it anyway.
The best thing to do, is go straight from the court to a Nationwide branch and open an account then. There is a tick box to say you are bankrupt on the on-line forms, so I presume the paper ones are the same.I can't make all my credit card and loan payments without getting into yet more credit card debt iyswim. If you are worried about your creditors reaction to not getting paid at all, it is probably best to contact them. Tell them you are experiencing financial difficulties, and send them token payments.Re the SOA. My car is on HP (or PCP to be precise. I think.) The outstanding finance on the car should be included in section 3.7.
Your payments should be included in the I&E, and the extra info section can be used to state that you would prefer to terminate the HP agreement.Would it be really really really unacceptable to withdraw cash on my credit card to pay my bankruptcy fees? In theory yes, but in practice no. To pay for anything other than the BR fees, the OR would be a tad annoyed. But they seem to turn a blind eye when they know it was the only way you could raise the fees. I have read of a lot of people doing it.
But remember, if you are not going to be able to pay your monthly credit card payment, then get the cash advance before you miss the payment. Otherwise that facility may be suspended on the card.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
