Ive hered through the grape vine that h s b c give interest free morgages to the muslem society ( please can i make it clear that im not racist) but was wondering if this is true and also wondered if any one could go into hsbc and demand equal treatment?

It's not about getting something for nothing, it's a method of charging interest in a way which pretends not to be interest and hence meets Muslim Sharia law.

So yes, HSBC would let you have one - but you'd be daft to want one as it's not cheaper than an ordinary mortgage.

Anyone can take out a sharia compliant mortgage which does not charge interest: you don't have to be a Moslem.I don't think you'll find it's any cheaper than an ordinary mortgage though

I'd imagine they'd snap your arm off if you demanded the opportunity to pay them more cash than you needed to(as for 'demand equal treatment')
