Interesting that Burnham is making land tax a policy aim rather than Corbyn. I don't think Burnham is finished yet due to second preferences, or if one of the others drop out.

one supports a land tax (suitably defined)

but am shocked that Burnahm thinks that it is a significant factor in lack of home ownership
and even worse he seems to think it only paid by the young.

Yes, it is interesting. Here is Burnham outlining his policy in the pages of the Guardian.

However there is one little point that they you failed to spot. Whilst Burnham did indeed make "land tax a policy aim" that was in August 2010, when he was a candidate in the previous leadership contest. He does not appear to have been so vocal on the subject this time around.

Land Value Tax, an idea so old-Liberal it can be traced back to Adam Smith. Curious how some leftists want to to out-liberal the neo-liberals.:)

generally people who spend more on food are less fat

so this would perhaps result in the opposite of people having to buy cheaper food and become fatter

This is a known phenomenon. If you make staple foods more expensive, people spend even less on other foods.

For lots of people, ready meals are their staple diet.

ready meals with the exception of maybe pizzas are not that bad imo. In most cases a ready meal is the same as a home cooked meal but frozen. Portion size is what is critical and ready meals (except pizzas) tend to come in correct sizes or are even often maybe a tad too small

The problem for most people, ready meal or not, is not the meal. Its the chocolate bar the biscuits and coca cola to wash it down with afterwards all of which are fairly cheap per calorie vs a ready meal
