I was successful just last week.
It was my first application and was advised that it could take four months for the application to be looked at. It actually took two weeks from posting application form to the visit from the Family Fund rep then a week after that I recieved the voucher.
I applied for a iPod for my Son who has ADHD, Dyspraxia and Opposional Defience Disorder.
His old one (very old I might add) had broken. He uses it for background music while doing homework, listening to audio books, setting reminders for lunchtime meds at school, collecting homework sheets and everything else he is liable to forget (pretty much everything tbh).
The home visit took 2 hours and they took a very detailed history about my Son.
Hope this helps0 -

We also sucessfully got a grant from FF applied last June adn it did take about 4 months. No home visit but we did have a good supporting letter from physio. DD has Joubert's syndrome, causing physical and communication disabilities. We applied for a specialist car seat - got £700 towards it but they couldn't fund it all as according to them either NHS or SS should have had some statutory duty but NHS have nothing to do with car seats apparently and we are still trying to get SS involvement and until you are on their books they have no SD apparently. So we had to find the other £444.
Applied on grounds of needing the turntable to save my back and make it safer getting DD in and out of the car in the short term and eventually hopefully giving DD more independence getting in and out of car in the longer term.0
