Possibly irrelevant, but advertising the product as fixed for term could well form part of the contract like in the Carlill v Carbolic Smoke Ball Company case.
None of the marketing highlighted the special clause, and neither did the solicitors who were often provided as part of the deal.0 -
I would take that as a bite......sad that you have nothing better to do than plough through threads, that dont effect you......Why don;t you try and leave the house and engage with real people, it may make you less bitter
Big thumbs down for that post beej. There are a lot of regular posters who have been helping people for years and that includes Thrugelmir.
Sometimes the advice is a little blunt and hard to swallow. However that is better than giving false hopes. Beej there are many mortgage experts here, maybe listen to them rather than disregard what they say as they haven't been burnt by BOI.:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.

Reactions to Newbies was a bit hostile at the top of this post and that got in the way a bit as Newbies were gathering information particular to our mortgages. I now appreciate Thrug's comments are made in good faith based on experience.0 -

Not bitter in the slightest. Real people debate and discuss in an adult manner. If you don't like what you are reading then either put me on ignore or find another forum which shares your views and opinions.0 -

That is what people said about Santander free business banking on this thread(except it was Abbey National not Bristol & West).
We forced a climbdown, though.
Smiffy is following the same battle plan - even to the point of setting up a free website.0 -

Remember the customer pays in the end. There's no such thing as a free lunch. So always thing about the bigger picture from above not just the view from the street.0
