foundation for oily menopausal skin

HI all. Am hoping you can give me some ideas here!
I've recently been diagnosed as being perimenopausal.
MY oily skin is still oily but also more pron e to break outs and I look more like a hormonal teenager than a woman in her mid 40s.

I currently use powder foundation: Lily Lolo and Body Shop. I'm not convinced it's giving me the right coverage anymore. I'm a teacher, so don't have the luxury (nor desire) to keep disappearing to the toilets to literally powder my nose during the day).

What do you use on your oily skin?

    I'm about the same as you - oily skin, 47, still get spots... and still using Everyday Minerals semi matte powder foundation, with (literally) patchy results.

    When I feel the need, a good BB cream works better. The original Korean brands are mostly superior to the well-known western brands that are more easily available here, and I can recommend Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream, usually at a decent price on Amazon.

    Have you tried a primer? search on this forum for MoM (milk of magnesia) some love it some dont, No 7 do a more refined cream version in a white tube but essentially its the same product. A light layer of Sudocream every other night will help control breakouts and not dry or make more greasy, if you are oily powder is no longer your friend until you find a controling primer as above, you could try Revlon colourstay liquid foundation, its mainly matte and will stay put or the more expensive and harsher on the skin Estee Lauder Doublewear, looks amazing though.

    Not a foundation, but maybe try to reduce the sebum production? Are you eating an anti inflammatory hormone balancing diet?

    Also could try the Skinessentialactives KinNiaNag serum which is raved about on many skincare forums for anti ageing, reducing oil production, regular acne and rosacea. Recipe here, kit to make it here. I really like this under make up, it's silky and lightweight.

    Our skin can become more sensitive as we age so maybe try a gentler cleansing routine, certainly avoid alkaline soaps, harsh scrubs and sulphate surfactants. These can damage the ski barrier allowing water out, bacteria and irritating chemicals in, the skin can become dehydrated or respond by producing more oil to protect itself or both.

    Lastly you might look at your tools - choose a much softer synthetic brush and clean it regularly. These are incredibly soft, I had no idea how harsh my 'soft' make up brushes were until I switched. People do tend to scrub powder foundations into the skin, that can irritate and stimulate the sebaceous glands. http://www.sigmabeauty.com/sigmax_collection_s/186.htm
