A question re SERPS and the govs new plans

Hi.
I have read the stick thread but to be honest it just made me more confused. I am 45 and opted out of SERPS 16 years ago when I started with my current employer (their advice). Every year when I get my statement I think should I opt back in? However after the announcement of the Governmanets new plans am I ok to just leave it and the new plans will make everything alright or do I still need to opt back in?

Again sorry if this repeats the sticky thread but 31 pages has just lost me.

Any thoughts are appreciated

Thanks

Bilk

Unless you are on a final salary pension, you are already contracted back in Since April 2012 when it was abolished for all but final salary pension schemes.

If you are on a final salary scheme you have no option but to be contracted out. That will also change from 2017.
