Interview Presentation O_o Help.

Hello everyone, it is me again, Elspeth.

Right, i've been invited to an interview on the 8th for which i have to give a 20 minute presentation :eek: on the following question: What impact will the welfare/benefit reform have on service provision within the YMCA, and how will this effect our service users?

Coincidentally, i saw this a few weeks back which covers the above briefly.

Any hints, tips, what to include, structure? I have not done a presentation before, panicking. Moreover, i don't perform particularly well in formal situations, hence cancelling 6 interviews since january 14th

Not sure if it has to be a PowerPoint presentation, this was not specified in the letter. Ideally i'd prefer giving handouts.

As a manager for a charity, who has interviewed lots of staff - if it doesn't specify powerpoint then use whichever presentation method you're happy with - handouts will be fine i'm sure as long as you dont' just read off them for the whole presentation.

What are your ideas on how the welfare reform will impact on vulnerable young people? Think broadly about the various ways in which these changes might impact on a vulnerable person. Perhaps look at the assessment framework triangle used with social care to consider a wide range of areas and then think about how the changes might impact on a young person within the service you're hoping to work for.

I don't know what the current services offered by the YMCA are - but do your research on this, so you can think about how the changes might inpact on this area. For example, will there be a higher demand for services? More young people needing support? Can the service cope with these demands?

I work at the YMCA and just noticed your message.
I would say please don't worry too much, we are a friendly bunch!
I would strongly recommend you give the HR or interview team a ring to find out more about what they would like to see. I am sure they would be pleased that you are giving it so much thought and consideration.

Always us visual aids during a presentaton. This takes the focus off you as person and directs it at your presentation. Good luck.
