I'd have thought the 25% discount would enable you to go somewhere a bit classier, if you'd like to!!!trailingspouse wrote: »A quick thank you to everyone who has made suggestions. I've now been able to talk to the local council, and (after they'd gone off to think about it for a bit) they decided that yes, I would be entitled to 25% discount - until such time as OH comes home to visit. Once he's spent a night in the house, the council tax becomes payable for ever more. He suggested that we should spend OH's leave in a Travel Lodge - classy, huh?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I need to do some calculations - OH is planning on coming home after about 3 months. So, say we pay about £1800pa for council tax (that's what we're paying in our current house), 25% of that is £450. But he'll only be away for 1/4 of the year, so I'll only really save £112.50. If he's home for a week, that's just over £16 a night.
This isn't looking good Savvy-Sue.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0
