less than 2 weeks to discharge

Well. The 'fortnight to go' stage has passed, my BRU has been signed on behalf of the secretary of state and is now in force, restrictions to last until 2017 - which is fine, and possibly not all such a bad thing.
I was worried proximity to discharge date may have meant the IS would need to delay my discharge through the courts to allow time for the BRU process, but the examiner dealing with my BRU assured me the discharge date was unaffected and I'm still set for AD a week this Thursday.
One bit of final (hopefully) advice I would like to ask if anybody can help, is to do with all the income/expenditure update request form that is often sent out towards the end of a bankruptcy, to check nothing has changed. This had been the subject of quite a few anxious posts by me not too long ago. I have not to date received such a form, or anything from the Blackpool office for some time now (my BRU is dealt with here up north, the rest handled by Blackpool's overflow office). I was sure to let them know when I got a 1% pay rise recently, but never got any confirmation or query back.
My question is can I assume, that with just around 12 days to go until my automatic discharge (and in fact only at most 8 of these being working days), that its as good as sure that this form won't be sent out in my case? I assume there isn't anything like enough time, even if it arrived this monday, to offer reasonable time to reply, and reasonable time for it to be looked over and verified etc.
I only ask in case it is common or something for these to be received very last minute and if my assumptions are mistaken in that case.
Thanks so much to everybody, I've tried to cool off here a bit for a while, I'd become a bit prone to conflict and apologise for at one point getting into a bit of a heated thread and not being great in how I went about trying to argue my point. I do hope to stick about and call in and try to help and contribute where I have something to offer, and no doubt will be posting in just under a couple of weeks time.

well done, yeah you will be fine, the form if it was sent has to be signed before discharge so no chance of an IPA, I doubt you will get one, I never did, I think it works differently tho if they were going to apply for an IPO, in that once they start the process then that's enough to stop the clock, but an IPA has to be in place i.e signed before discharge.0

Yep. Too late for any likely or plausible action from them on an IPA.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks both of you, I felt petty even asking but its just such a difference to think my finances could be 'mine' again in a fortnight, compared to thinking there was any chance of spending until 2016 on essentials only. I won't be living lavishly, I must add, but it'd be nice to think if I earn a bit more, or save a bit more, I could perhaps do something nice once in a while

Kind Regards, Ad

Would you know if they were going for an ipo?0 -
I think they would only go for an ipo if the agreement was not agreed......if you know what I mean!!!
Home and dry!! well done x0 -
yeah, i figured that an IPO would have to be at least after some due course and process of not cooperating in setting up an IPA, and so you'd at least have had to have been through the motions (or have had correspondence) regarding an IPA, and I've certainly had none of that, well, since the O.R. first checked over my income/expenditure as it was on the SOA. Other than that, I've heard nothing from the O.R. dealing with my assets and discharge for about 9 months.
It is odd though, since the O.R. specifically told me they would send out an update of income/expenditure form about 6 months in and he said there were issues with my SOA (household income was very high because the CAB advisor told me to include money spent on alcohol and drugs whilst in relapse because these were related to addictive behaviour and I couldn't guarantee I'd stay clean and sober - the O.R. preferred me to re-do it more optimistically, but never asked...
Thanks anyway for all the help along the way
I look forward to a week on thursday. Will the online register record update automatically? Like, as in can I objectively check at midnight etc that I'm discharged, or when people say they stay up till midnight, do they just mean they know they are then discharged?
Thanks x0 -
I am 7 months in and not heard anything I have no ipa but due to tax allowance in April I will be the grand sum of £20 a month better off!! I am planning on e mailing trustee as electric dd needs to go up as I do not earn much so at least I can be warm!!
Its about a year since I found this site I can not believe its gone so fast...good luck to you in future and take care.
Oh yes it shows your discharge at midnight others have suggested you print off a few copies as its only on there for 3 months. x0 -
Would you know if they were going for an ipo?
Yes as doseduk says, they would have to have tried to get an IPA in place first, you would have to refuse to enter in the IPA process by not filling in the SOA or refuse to sign the agreement, then a time limit would trigger for signing the IPA agreement, if one was sent out, around 14 days, then the IPO process would start.
So yes, you would know about it.0 -
thanks both of you again, I'll be sure to stick around, and luvchocolate yeah, make sure the tax allowance goes to bringing a bill you'd been keeping uncomfortably low up to what is reasonable... it sounds like you too need not worry about an IPA whether they ask or not. Thanks for the well wishes, I'll no doubt stick around. I just looked and my BRU is now listed on the online register, along with another entry for my bankruptcy.
I'll be sure to check at midnight on the 14th
Thanks so much again for everyone's help.
And as ever, if anybody reads this and has anything to ask about my experience with the BRU or anything else, drop me a message or reply here, I'd be happy to give something back to the community (as much as it would only be lay-advice, can't substitute professional advice, but still).
