Barclays Mortage process - adviser delaying things?

Hi All,

We put in our application with Barclays / woolwich on the 8th February.

On the 14th I got a text to say the valuation was booked for the following tuesday. It came back fine on the 20th February.

The Bank adviser said all was fine, and so I was waiting for the offer letter - for the last few days I have been calling her for an update and have not been able to get through. I just called the mortgage call centre head office and they said they are waiting for an additional payslip and had advised our adviser 5 days ago.

This has confused me - why hasn't she told us to supply the additional pay slip? I thought if they instructed the survey it meant everything was fine with the application so does this mean it isn't? Or do i just need to supply the payslip and stop stressing?! :)

Thanks in advance for your replies! If you know the Barclays /woolwich mortgage process it would help me!

I had a similar situation i called nationwide and they advised they were waiting for proof of child benefit, i spoke to my broker who knew nothing about it. My broker then spoke to nationwide who advised there was no information oustanding.

So to be honest, speak to your broker as it may turn out that she knows nothing about it or the info is not required at all.

Yep still playing the waiting game im afraid, been about a week and half when the valuation came back fine and over 2 weeks since it was done. I've left it with my broker to chase, he has requested it to be sorted asap.

As fed up as i am, i know im not the only one in this position. Theres no chain so im not in an immediate rush, but it would be nice to know where i stand sometime soon.

And just to add my broker can see the whole progress of the app on an electronic system, so if theres any further info required, it flags up on their system. Not sure if thats the case with all brokers. Presumably.

We had a similar situation with ING. After the online application they advised us to both send one payslip each. They then called my partner and said they couldn't proceed until I'd got my contract at work, and may need more detailed bank statements once that was sorted. It took me a while to sort out, but in the meantime they rang us demanding to know why we hadn't sent them the detailed statements as "it's on our records that we asked for them" - they hadn't!
  • Did you get it sorted in the end?

Our adviser is the banks adviser, not a mortgage broker so i guess she doesnt have the same service as if we had used a broker
