CapitalOne - don't trust them!

in Credit cards
Through this Money Saving website I found out about CapitalOne cash-back credit card. I always pay my balance in full at the end of the month, so I thought this could be a nice way to get an extra little income. I did the MoneySavingExpert credit card assessment and I got an 80% probably of being accepted for the cash-back credit card. I did my application online on capital one website. The credit card I wanted, "Aspire cash-back card" was refused, and some sales guy called me up later on to tell me I could get the "typical" cash back card called "Classic Extra" cash-back card. I told them fine, then give me that classic extra card. I've received the card and was very surprised to find out that the card they sent me was NOT a cash-back card and not the card they told me they were going to send me. The card they they did send me was didn't have any of the benefits promised. I call them up right away and told them this is not the way to conduct business. I gave back my card and instructed them to erase all my data. Since them I have received 3 different letters from Capital One asking me to sign up for their credit cards.
This post is to warn other users to think twice before using Capital One. They will sell you what you don't want and will keep on chasing you after you told them that you don't want to have anything to do with them.

I have had three cards with Cap One and they have never sold me what I didn't want. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience and didn't get the card you wanted.0

Improve your credit rating if you want the aspire credit card.
They have scored you high enough for their classic card only hence why they offered you that one.0 -

To be fair, by the sounds of if they did say the OP could have the Classic cashback card, although 0.5% cashback is a very low reward and doesn't seem worth getting angry about not ultimately not receiving.0 -

Totally agree but would take anything that an agent from Mumbai says with a pinch of salt.0 -
So you applied for the Aspire card, got refused. Applied for the Classic Extra, got approved and received what? Classic Visa?
Although for a typical consumer, I'd say 0.5% isn't really worth bothering about, unless your spend is about 10K/year.0 -

Better than 0% and if you spend £2000 a year the classic extra actually gives 1%0 -

I applied to the Aspire Card, got refused. Then they called me to offer the Classic Extra, I said yes. Then they send me the classic card without any cashback instead of the card they promised (probably hoping I wouldn't notice). The process raises some serious doubts about their whole business model and integrity, so I preferred to drop the whole thing.0 -

Given that most people seems to get on fine with Capital One I think it's probably just a mistake.0 -
Hmmmm CapitalOne??
In my experience, banks and financial institutions that have "double-barrel" names are never to be trusted.
and equally so for the ones that don't.
.The bankers stole my pension (and everyone else's). It should have earned a lot of money, but they took their bonus pot first.0 -
I couldn't read all of the OP.
However, I have a Capital One card and it seems to work fine for me.0
