never mind the shoes, need a new dress

Options
So my metatarsil has healed but cuboid is still broke. I've accepted I won't be able to loose my half a stone a be able to breathe in my dress (which is quite important I think :rotfl: ) so I need a new dress.

I got benjamin roberts 5011 off Ebay for £150, but as its a 2nd dress I don't want to pay more than arounf £80.

You know I fab Jimmy Choos to wear, which I've been told I won't be able too, so I've ordered the red converses max stars (to give height). So ideally would like a long dress.

I could wear a short dress and no shoes, but that would mean I would be dead short against my partner, I know that shouldn't matter........

Has anyone seen anything whilst out and about in the shops? I've been checking the likes of monsoon, next etc online.

Thanks in advance.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

    Hi

Have you tried facebook groups for weddings in your area - you might find someone selling a dress on there or you could post a wanted ad. There is a lady selling a dress on one of the pages in my area for a dress reduced to £80 and another lady is selling a Mori Lee dress for £50

    https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/183582388349415/

I don't know if that link would work but thought it might help as an example.

Hope I'm not being too nosy but what size are you looking for and are then any things you really don't want e.g. lace up back or lace and we can get looking for you.

oo thank you I'll go and have a looksie.

I'm normally a 10/12, however this dress I have is a 10 and I just can't breathe in it :rotfl: I haven't been at the gym since I broke my foot and so although I've lost weight (total muscle wastage) I've gained inches  so would be looking for a size 12.

Honestly anything really goes, it's more the cost. I've found some lovely tea dresses on ebay, but not sure I'd manage to walk 'properly' with no shoes.... although in 12 weeks I'd blooming hope so!

I'd like ivory, not white and strapless. Not fussy, no bows, just plain and simples :j

I'm liking this - although it's not exactly plain and unfussy :rotfl: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Stock-Vintage-Whie-Ivory-Lace-Tea-Length-Wedding-Dresses-UK-6-8-10-12-14-16-/200856758002?pt=UK_Wedding_Dresses&var=&hash=item2ec3fee6f2

I'm sure shops should be getting in maxi dresses now, may have to go away from the ivory though....

I've just been looking at debenhams online and they have some dresses with 20% off
    http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_008010857285_-1

I have a code for an additional 10% off online from tomorrow to Friday 8th March - GV66 , and if you were to go via quidco first you could get some cashback - might just bring the dresses down to more the price you were looking at.

I love the tea dress that you posted - very classy and sophisticated.:)

Wedding dresses can usually be let out - might be a cheaper option.

I've been told by 5 different people I've left it too late...... I just thought come March I'd be fine and back at the gym.

I have a friend who is asking a friend of a friend :rotfl: if she could squeeze me in (timescale wise, not the dress :rotfl:).

I had a problem similar in that I had gained about a stone.. My sister in laws, sister in law let it out for me as she is a dressmaker

It took her about 2 hours total including getting me into and out of the dress and pinning etc..one Sunday afternoon .. She basically opened the two side seams and gave it an a couple of cm's on both sides .. There was no way you could tell the difference..

Mine was a Benjamin roberts too and I remember her commenting it was really quick and easy as they had left plenty of extra in the side seams ( the dress had little covered buttons on the back so would have been more time consuming on another dress without enough material to let the seams out

Maybe look at your dress , work out if there is enough material on the sides and explain this to the dressmaker so they know it's not a huge job.
