Removal of notice from local paper?

I was discharged in 2008 (within 7 months or something after filing for bankruptcy) and when searching for my name on Google, a PDF link of my bankruptcy notice for local paper is shown on 1st page.
I am a web developer so this is a major issue for me in career terms.
Can I apply to remove this notice? If so, how? I wrote to OR recently who suggested that I speak to the local paper. :undecided
I thought I had put all this behind as I rebuild my life but feels like I still have the lasso around my neck.

I have no answer for you, but you have my deepest sympathy.
I always thought it was bad enough when people are named as going bankrupted, but for it to happen again at the end is just poor taste.0 -
Thanks. This affects my self-esteem and greatly damages my integrity and career prospects. Stressed!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!0 -
Your bankruptcy is a matter of public record, and while you MAY be able to persuade your local paper to remove the notice, it will always be available to be viewed in the London Gazette.

As far as I am aware you cannot formally apply to have it removed. Maybe if your BR had been annulled/rescinded etc, but perhaps not even then with one in a local paper that is still viewable online.
As said, it is a matter of public record, although not one that would normally be easily discovered by a search engine search as Gazette entries in theory should not show up unless you specifically search their site (some do though from time to time). It's just unfortunate that this one also went in the local paper and is available via that online.
In that light, maybe the best course is to contact the paper? The requirement (I think) on them was to publish in printed form, which obviously they cannot rescind or remove now. But the online notice is not required as far as I recall, so they may be able to just take it off?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
