Norton Finance - Good or bad??

Did a search using the Equifax check on moneysupermarket.com and the best loan provider recommended to me was Norton Finance at 8.9% apr.

Anyone had any good/bad dealings with these and are they likely to stick to the suggested apr quoted even though we've had previous credit problems?

Also, we're just about to complete on our first house (this week hopefully) so if we wanted to take out a secured loan with Norton would we have to have a history of mortgage payments first before taking out a loan?

Cheers,
JR

Years ago Norton used to be owned and run by a man named Norman and his dad, Stanley. They were always very pleasant whenever I had dealings with them (I ran survey offices and they secure loans on property - hence needing a survey). I don't know if anything has changed since then, I'm sure there are others who have taken out loans/know someone who has and can fill you in further.

    Hi JR,
Sorry I can't help, I am in a similar situation and wondered how you got on?
Did you go with Norton Finance in the end?

Do you have any advice for a new house owner needing £7,000 asap.
    Thanks,

  • I am on my second loan with Norton Finance (my loan company is Nemo).I found them good to deal with, you can always get hold of someone and if they arnt there they ring you back, friendly people. When I applied my interest rate did go up from the original quote, (but since then I have found a default on my credit file which shouldnt have been there, so maybe thats why).I wouldnt say they are very quick though my second loan took about 4 months to complete, there was a problem because I was on mat leave but it was slow. But on the whole for secured lending I found them good.

  • I would avoid Norton Finance. They were very slow when we took the loan out and now we find they miss sold us the PPI. They are now p politely calling us liars even though they did not record calls when we took out our loan and their computer notes are incomplete! Sorry but or experience of Norton Finance has not been nice!!!!
Very polite people though I must say,
