Low credit score
Options
Hi,
I did not realise until I looked at my credit rating that it is quite low due to 2 three month late payments. I was only 17 at the time..:( Now im leaving uni and have this all paid off now over a year and am wondering how this will affect me getting a mortgage and loans?
Thanks

Your age at the time is irrelevant ?
You made 2 late payments, yes it might affect your chances of getting a loan, mortgage etc.
How long ago were the late payments ?0 -
It dosen't, what I meant was I was too young and silly to know this would later on affect me.
I am terribly worried about this...:(0 -

Are the 'just' missed payment markers? Not a default?
Are you on the electoral roll?
What existing credit accounts do you have? overdraft? student credit card? contract phone? are you currently paying everything on time each month?
A couple of late payments from several years ago won't have a major impact on your ability to get credit now or a mortgage in the future. What you need to do is ensure you maintain an active credit history and always pay everything on time.
If you don't have any current credit at all then once you are working try applying for an easy to get credit card to help build up a credit history.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
When are you hoping to apply for a mortgage?0
-
Hoping to apply in two or three years and I know these details stay on your account for 6 years.
I am not sure if they are defaults, they are red with a 3 in them??
Also everything else on my account, student over draft and phone and a few others are all 100% perfect with up to date payments every month on time.
When applying for loans, etc do they just look at your credit score? As these are greatly reducing mine or do they look into all details?
Thanks everyone for your help0
