that seems very unfair theyre youre family after all why do kids need to be a certain age anyway?

  • Having a look at the terms I would be tempted to send the IPM an email and see if that was correct, the terms just say 2 adults, 2 children (and ages ) it does not say they have to be in the same family so you would have been entitled imo to take your nephews.

This is such a shame for you - however it does show that it is important to read the terms and conditions. I'm a single mum so I wonder if I would have been disqualified for that?

Fingers crossed a holiday win comes your way soon. I've been very lucky and have won lots of fantastic prizes... but I've never won a holiday - I'm hoping for one this year :-) (I'll make sure I carefully read T&C's though)!
:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j

I totally agree with the sun. They need to be able to display winner images of a nuclear family. I mean gosh, how terrible if the winning family actually represented anything other than this 'ideal'.

I just think they need to add some extra t&c's - dad must bring briefcase, children must be very happy and play marbles, and of course the mother must wear hair rollers and wear a pinny!

Seriously though, I really hope you have another holiday win soon, it must have been horrible to get so close.

I would do the same. Although terms and conditions state that it is a 'family' holiday they do not say how the members have to be related, just the age range. You probably won't get to take the holiday as it will have been given to someone else by now but I would still want to make sure that they either make the terms and conditions clearer in the future or allow more flexibility for other winners.

Thanks guys for all your help, I think I'll do just that. I fully understand that they will have found a suitable family combination for the prize but I just felt a little disheartened after actually re reading through the t&c's to find it doesn't state they have to be my own children.

Ill let you know the outcome though and I know I've defo learnt my lesson to read the terms!

Good luck to you all too! X:A

Looking at it again I think the Sun are in the wrong here so I would take it to the IPM and see if there is anything they can do

I'd drop Edwin an email as it appears they are very keen on their T&Cs but nephews are certainly family so they appear to be breaking their own T&Cs.

(He's a very nice chap btw- very approachable -unless you're a company breaking the rules !)

How did she already know that you didn't have kids to take with you?

She had asked me if I had children so I told her no but was planning on taking other family members :(
