Sewing Machine for children - ideas?

Hi
My 6yr old daughter has asked for a sewing machine for her birthday. I think this is a great idea, and would love to get her one - however, the only one I can find in any of the stores is a Hello Kitty one with appalling customer reviews on both Argos & Toys R Us.
Can anyone recommend a decent one suitable for children? She's sensible and quite arty, so i'm confident she could cope with one a bit above her age range....

Have a look at John Lewis's own make red machine. It is a good, small simple machine. Or go vintage and get her an Elna TSP, everything she will ever need to sew but small and very cute.0

How about a mini sewing machine, much cheaper and more portable

Another vote here for the JL red machine, I bought this for my girls (10 & 14) as they always wanted to use mine, as a sewer myself I would use this machine, its fantastic.0

I can't comment on how good this machine is, but saw a basic machine in ikea last week and commented at the time that it looked good for beginners.
