I've just got into making pizza at home, and wondering about getting a pizza stone? Obviously I want to try and avoid spending money, so has anyone ever made a DIY one? And has it worked?

Thanks for the link. I did actually look at that thread, but was interested more in whether anyone had actually made themselves a pizza stone, not bought one.0

I was thinking this, but would they be big enough? I can only find ones that are like 10cm by 10cm.0 -

You can place tiles in an appropriately sized group on a shelf or baking tray in your oven, just make sure NOT to use glazed tiles, as they generally use lead in the glaze.
Most unglazed tiles will do and can probably be picked up from a car boot sale for pennies."We could say the government spends like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors, because the sailors are spending their own money."
