No mortgage remortgage

Hi,
I am a married man, I own my own home outright, in my name only.
I want to remortgage, or similar to access the capital in my home.
Would it be possible to sell the house to my wife, taking it that she has the means to pay a deposit and finance a mortgage?
What other options are available to me?
Thanks

Have you split up?
If not then a re-mortgage putting it in both names is simple enough. You may/will have to pay for a Transfer of Equity (ToE) which basically puts the deeds in both names rather than just yours but the solicitors will do all of that.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Why are you thinking in such complicated terms? Sell it to your wife? Why?Techno_DoDo wrote: »Hi,

All you need to do is apply for a remortgage on an unencumbered property. Some lenders may not like it and others will want to know what the money is for, but it should be achievable without such trauma.
Apply in joint names and complete the transfer of equity in the process.I am a mortgage broker. Blimey........you are going round the houses! Just complete a simple capital raising re-mortgage in your name. No need to sell to wife or even add her to the mortgage - unless you have insufficient income to support proposed new borrowing. With such mortgage naivety I suggest you run through your options with a broker.0
