I appreciate your replies, really I do, and I'm sorry I seem to have gotten up your nose with the whole card thing, but all I was trying to say is it is a big issue to me; I wouldn't be asking about it if it wasn't. I do respect the fact that other people have big problems with seemingly more to lose than I, But not having a card would be a big deal to me - please respect that. And I was actually trying to agree with you about the cost of the card... I think you've misread me, which is a shame. I'm not on here to try and annoy people, just to try and figure out how to reduce the worry of having debts I can't pay... sorry we seem to have got off on the wrong foot - I can see where you're coming from, just hope you can see where I'm coming from too.

Hi Im Mike ....
I think the only reason I kept my 'full' debit card was that I had been with Lloyds for years, had business accounts with them.. never borrowed from them though. When I went B I went in and stold them.. I was ushered off to a little room whilst the ' Bankruptcy expert' at my branch looked at my account, TBH I dont think she knew what she was doing. Anyhows, they put a 'marker' on my account that says dont lend, but said I can keep all the other facilities as I have bnever borrowed from them.
That was that really, Ive had new cards and cheque books since. I do think I slipped through the net mind.
Hello Mike
Thanks for that, from what others have said, seems lady luck might have just been shining on you that day...

Maya,
I had a Next account which had a zero balance, thus not actually a creditor. I gave no details about this account in my BR but as of yesterday I found out they DO KNOW about my BR and have closed the account. Their actions are of no consequence to me but if a similar thing should happen to you with your bank account then the consequences could obviously be far more reaching.0 -
Hi Maya
don't worry, you haven't really got up my nose, and I understand its an issue for you. My point was whether it was the biggest issue *you* face at the moment, especially considering people have drawn your attention to the alternatives.
Anyway, best to leave it at that. Welcome to the board!:DBCSC Member 70:j

Thanks Allofadither, that's helpful to know (although perhaps not what I *wanted* to know
) - well at least now I know there are at least some other options - my main fear before was that I'd be stuck without no card whatsoever, but it's good to know I can try the Co-Op, and if no joy there, try the pre-pay thing... all a learning curve
Now trying to weigh up the long term pro's and con's... eek...0 -
