Again double and triple check the units and decimal places, AFAIK they always have a decimal point or a different colour digit or somesuch.

Not the newer digital ones. The one the op is describing, postcard sized, with a red flashing light is one of the newer ones. No decimal point.

We ve had faulty Ampy or Landys and Gyr little white digital meters going haywire before on this forum. Using 3 units whilst you are out , without anything switched on except the fridge and a few L.E.D. s on indicates a fault on the meter. If you have the confidence that its def the meter, request a check meter to be installed. If the meters ok tho you will be charged something like £80 so you have to be confident. As Andy_wsm says , theres only the five numbers on these meters so no decimal point mix up possible

    Hello guys

Thank you for all the replying. The landlady called an electrician and he came out to use an amp meter. We spent an hour switching things on and off.

He has no idea what the problem is but is adamant that all of our appliances are working correctly. He also stated that anything faulty that uses that amount of units drains persistently rather then spike.

He suggests to ring e.on and request an engineer to come and assess the meter.

As for the hot water myth... he told me that keeping the heater on would probably cost the same, of not less, as reheating the hole tank.

Ill keep you posted on what response I get when I contact e.on.

    Thanks
