Offer accepted... not that you'd know it!

Our offer on a house was accepted on 2nd May

The agent told me they won't be arranging any more viewings, BUT
It's up on Rightmove with no 'under offer' tag
The 'for sale' signs were still up at the weekend
It was in last week's local property rag but I hope it won't be in this week's

When should I get stroppy and insist on seeing signs that they have agreed to sell to us? Does it really take so long to update Rightmove?
My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

sometimes they leave it on until both sides solicitors details have been given (this was so in my case) or until a survey has been booked. Why don't you just ring and say I see the house is still on rightmove, when will it be removed?

I have read all the books about how you should ask the EA to stop marketing the property after an offer has been accepted. However, I think in reality, they dont do that until they are certain that it will not fall through. The property we are buying is still on Right Move under SOLD STC, even though I have been ready to exchange contracts for the last month ... they or their lawyers are delaying matters.

Depends on the EA. If they are decent they won't be accepting viewings etc. That's what ours is doing although they haven't yet marked it under offer.

Rightmove is notorious for being quite out of date as far as properties that are actually sold or under offer are concerned.

Estate agents often book newspaper adverts a couple of weeks ahead, so in effect have to give around 2 weeks notice to cancel an ad containing an under offer house.

Some estate agents don't change boards to sold or under offer untill survey is back & house purchase is with solicitors & everything proceeding as it should be.

One property I sold a few years ago still had for sale sign up outside right up to day of completion & it was only then that it was changed to sold. Obviously a very cautious ea who didn't believe in taking any chances till the whole thing really was signed, sealed & delivered! The property hadn't been marketed since I'd accepted the offer I hasten to add.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

When I make an offer it is on the basis that they take it off the market.. Otherwise it really is open for anybody else to buy it.

    Even then, it matters little.

My last place, I offered £10k above the asking price on the condition that it was taken off the market, which the EA assured me it was.

It was only after completion, that I discovered that they had been happily showing other purchasers around the property, despite their assurances to the contrary.

Has your solicitor received draft contracts yet from the other side?

If not, then the vendor is playing silly beggars, and probably still has it on the market

Mums house was still on rightmove nearly a year after she had moved in!

I'm sneaky, I would probably have someone phone up to express interest in the house and see what was said.
