Hi i recently brokemy wrist and have been off work for about 5 weeks now on sick pay, but before i went on sick pay i actually went into work and tried to work with a broken wrist (which hurt) I was not offered light duties and no one asked me how i was andif i was ok to work.
My point is where do i stand i phoned work today to tell them i am getting my sick note extended as i cannot do my normal job, they then phone me about 2 hours later asking me to come in to work, i told them i cannot drive at the moment and they said cant u catch the bus.
is this right the way they are treating me shouldnt they at least offer to give me lighter duties or something.
Any help appreciated
Many thanks
Rick

A sick note from the doctor indicates that you are unfit to do your normal job. Even if you could drive you are still unfit to do your normal duties. I think its up to your emoloyer whether or not they offer you lighter duties but either way they dont sound very sympathetic to your situation.
the key is so you want to go back now and do a lighter job - if you do perhaps you could suggest this to them. If not - and you do have to consider what would happen if its not healed properly and you hurt it again - then you need to get your sick note extended.
I dont think they are bound by law to offer you lighter duties, but it might be better for them if they did. ( someone may correct me if I'm wrong)
good luck

If you have a valid sick not from the quack I don't think you are even meant to be on the premises.
Think it's got something to do with you not being insured.
Check with your HR department.
