Seeing as it's now a ludacris price to post a "letter" first class now... 65p i think
what are your opinions on hand delivering invites where possible?
Handing them out to work colleagues, hand delivering invites to local friends and family...
if you received one hand delivered would you find that odd or would you expect it to come in the post?
I don't know all my families addresses even though i know where they live!

Can I ask...what are the invites for? If you write "By Hand" in the left hand corner that will give it a personal touch. Have to agree...cost of first class stamps very expensive....if you have to post why not send second class?0

Silly me....didn't read which forum title it was under! Many congratulatios!!0

It's 60p for first class 50p for second. So yes, if you have a lot of them to give out it is a significant cost.
As poledancer says, write "By Hand" in the top corner of the envelope and deliver the ones you can yourself. I can't imagine why anyone would have any preconceived notion of how an invite "should" arrive. The fact that it arrives is the only important thing isn't it?
Congratulations btwYou had me at your proper use of "you're".0 -
Gosh....I am having a blonde day....meant to say write "By Hand" in the right hand corner where you would normally place the stamp.0

We handed out the ones we could, hand posted some, and stuck the rest in the post. We have received 4 RSVP's so far, 2 in the post and 2 given to OH at work. I have to say, I did get excited as the two arrived in the post today - I love getting post
I did plan ahead before the stamp prices went up last year, and bought what I thought would be enough books to cover the invites that needed to be posted, however looks like we will still need to buy some more at some point!!MFW 2016 #32 £1574.66/£1500:j:j0 -
i think its lovely to hand deliver invites...and equally as nice a surprise to receive one in the post....so if it were me i would deliver those you can by hand and pop the others in the post...
the only thing i would say is if you are hand delivering them it does take time...in my experience theres a cup of tea and a chat to be had at every house!...so dont forget to factor in the time you take to deliver them by hand and indeed incidentals like petrol etc...you might find that whilst 60p does seem a lot to pay for postage and possibly more if you have a thicker invite so dont forget to check if you might need large letter stamps.....you might find that actually the postage costs are quite reasonable compared to the time it might take to hand deliver.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

We needed large letter stamps at 90p a time so we hand delivered all the ones in the local area, although this did take all day as there were lots of chats on the doorsteps and coffee to be drunk whilst doing it!0

I would find it strange for a work colleagues to post me an invite, having said that I was invite to 3 weddings last year and none of the invites were posted to me.
I'm emailing mine to people, so bypassing the posting situ altogether.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
I suspect our invites would come under the large letter size, i really cant justify another 90p on invites....
thanks everyone its really made me feel more relaxed about hand delivering invites
a few guests don't know they are all day invites they've assumed evening so can't wait to give them their ivite by hand now0 -
We posted some and hand delivered to some, colleagues and locals were by hand and about 44 were posted costing £26ish for the stamps!!
