Welcome to MSE, Equador. I've moved your post over to 'Shop But Don't Drop' as it may interest other users on that board, too.

In a word Freezerangelcake wrote:Why would everyone want reduced items? They are reduced because they are going out of date probably the same day! it does work in asda, until someone notices the problem and they take the stuff of the shelf or tell someone, we had some white kitkat packs that did this, they were 30p each but were taking off 98p after three, so really i owed the customer 8p (yes i work in asda) because the lady had other shopping i told her what happened we had a giggle, and she said "oh ill go get some more and it can pay for my shopping" hehe.0

HI Angel,
i think you've missed the point!
it doesn't matter if you like the product your buying or not. if the shop end up owing money, then just throw it away because you've saved money!
or as previously said, freeze the stuff.0 -

The likes of cheese are only starting to get interesting once it passes its sell by date!!
Sell by dates are very conservative. God gave me a nose and I find it works extremely well to detect that fetid odour.......otherwise its fine. Also helps stop those tummy bugs when you go abroad if you have the old immune system firing on all cylinders!!!0 -
Okay, you've got me nailed now - it's me that's been totalling up my shopping such that the supermarket pays me for shopping there except for the last minute grab of the not so cheap tv guide by the checkout in order to reverse the miscalculation I made forcing my bill into a credit amount (the checkout operator didn't notice the minus sign and still asked me to pay 75p) to something I can actually pay the checkout person. Then a serious attempt to ensure that I don't break out laughing when the checkout person finds the grand total of 20 items to come to 45p (including the £1.20 tv mag).
The man in the queue standing behind me with his wife looks on totally amused at the scene and just thought I was some smart shopper or what and wished his wife would shop so cheap....0 -

My Sainsbury's in Basingstoke definitely are aware of this. They amusingly put up a posh printed sign a couple of days by their nearly out-of-date Satsumas saying "1 for £1.00, 2 for 30p." (or something like those prices). People looking at these were bemused and many people bought just the 1 packet!0
