HL Solicitors and Sigma Red??

Hi guys,
I'm not sure if this is the right section but I need some help regarding the companies mentioned in the title. First, a bit of background info:
A few years ago I worked for T-Mobile and my ex boyfriend's phone account was linked to mine with the Friends and Family package. When we split up he maintained payment of his bill and I phoned customer services to cancel my contract (I had left T Mobile by this point and my contract was up so I owed nothing on the account.)
The girl I spoke to cancelled his account instead of mine, and it showed up with an early termination fee of £818. I told her she'd done the wrong one and she said she'd reinstate it and cancel the right one ( which she did) and to ignore the bill for the early termination as it didnt apply...
I heard nothing more about it and moved in with my father for a while, however I had a letter today from HL Solicitors demanding payment of £818 for a debt collection agency called Sigma Red??
I read online that they commonly deal with T Mobile but being as I shouldnt even owe this debt as it was T Mobile's fault is there any way I can get out of paying It??
Thanks in advance!

Write to them asking them to prove the debt.
Dig out any paperwork you have from the time relating to it for if/when they come back to you.0 -
I don't have anything on it, no bills, no letters, nothing. I was expecting a final bill of some sort r.e the early termination but all I got was the final bill for my closed account.
It must have been around 3 years ago now at least. Do I need to deal with this solicitor or go straight to the debt company?0 -
Write to whoever is chasing for money. Send the prove it letter as a starting point Letter when you know nothing about about the debt - AKA "Prove it" letterA smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

Okay I'll start there and see where it goes.
