Why does my twitter unfollow people?

Im new to twitter so dont really get it

Im my stream if I see a retreat comp, i click it, click follow and click retweet.

If i go back to that company later in for example they tweet again I can see the follow button is active again and have to click it yet again.

So half the time i am probably not in the comps as It appears i have just tweeted and not followed even though I did

I think it's just a glitch - Mine often does than and some companies have followed me more than twice due to the glitch.

Last year Twitter had a spell when it was unfollowing people without the account holder being involved- it always happened when I was logged out!

But if it's happening to you now, then it's worth everyone checking their following list.
