Or put another way, the majority (59%) of councils will once again freeze council tax ;)
and with an average increase (of base rate council tax) of just 0.8%, this effectively represent a tax cut. ;)

But whatever, I think what many people are finding is that they have to pay significantly higher amounts what with the removal/reduction of many discounts and even the application of surcharges of up to 50% in certain circumstances. :(

I used to get a 25% discount but now have had a letter to say I won't be getting it next year. Everywhere seems to be asking for more money time after time and its getting a bit beyond a joke now.

It's about time people who have several houses are made to pay more. The millionaires tax cut is a bit of a joke and all the loopholes for the Jimmy Carrs of the country needs to be shut as i'm sure it would make a huge dent rather than squeezing the lowest paid time and time again

Humm I resent paying council tax as it is nevermind an increase! What do I get for £1500 a year? Fire service, police service and bins emptied every now and again. I know there's more going on behind the scenes like local libraries and stuff but £1500 worth? I like to see a statement with a detailed breakdown of where my money went (or wasted more than likely).
