rusty water help please

Morning all, I am calling on the fountain of knowledge that is OS as I cant shift a stain! My towel radiator which is white has leaked from the top and left a trail of rusty brown water trickling down each bar of the radiator – I went at it with bleach just assuming this would work and it hasn’t shifted a bit  any ideas would be gratefully received and tried out as its such an eye sore

  • I'd probably start with a paste made of bicarb and a bit of vinegar. Then again, I always start with that when cleaning!

  • Chlorine bleach will react with the rust and may make the stain worse.
Make sure the radiator is washed with plenty of clean soapy water to remove all of the bleach, because acid and bleach cause a toxic gas.
When you are sure that all traces of bleach have been removed use lemon juice and salt, make into a paste and leave for 24 hours, keep the paste damp by adding more lemon juice to avoid drying out. You may have to repeat the process, if this doesn't work then I am afraid you will have to paint the radiator
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
