I plan on making suncatchers with my grandchildren next week. This is the idea I have seen, scroll down for the stars... http://michelle-onecraftymama.blogspot.co.uk/2009/11/melting-beadsits-oh-so-fun.html
The children will arrange the beads in the molds and then they will be melted. Obviously it can be very smelly so I will melt with the door/ windows all open and children out of the way. What do you think?

my little girl would enjoy doing them and like the finished design, but id be really put off by the fumes to be honest, she makes them sound really bad on that blog.
but like you say, you intend to keep the children out of the way for that bit, so go for it!Mummy to ds 29/12/06 dd 10/2/08 ds 25/5/11:Amy angel born too soon 18/11/12, always with me Emmie Faith:A15 projects in 2015 10/15completed0 -
I have read other blogs where they have described the fumes as not being as bad. I will be doing a test go without the children and if it is bad then I won't do it with them. We have patio doors also so they will be open. I intend to do the, on a day when the boys can play outside etc. I totally understand your concerns as they were mine at first until I read other blogs. I linked with that blog as I really loved the star.
Perhaps you could do them in the summer when all windows would be openNothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -

Well the day has been and gone. The suncatchers were fantastic. Yes it was smelly a little but we just opened the door and it was fine. I found that the simple cheap plastic beads like you can buy at Instore. I paid £5 for a box that was enough to make 3 or 4 suncatchers. Each one had a circle approx 4" with 3 smaller circles hanging from it. My daughters have hung them in the window and they look wonderful. The children were so proud of themNothing Changes if Nothing Changes0
