mackenzie hall... scam??

hi guys.
Basically a year or so ago I was in debt by say £200 with halifax because of some charges. it got passed to 'credit security limited'. that debt got paid off in one lump sum. the letters and calls stopped which I was happy with.
now though recently ive been getting letters from Mackenzie Hall, asking for the money again. they're a couple of pennies out on what the actual sum used to be. and I get sbout 2 letters a week. ive never heard of this company before and the fact they haven't even gotten the amount right, has raised suspicion.
ive emailed a complaint to no avail, im no longer in contact with halifax and dont use them any more. I have proof of payment to the other debt recovery company I could show but dont see why I should prove myself...
any advise??

If you have proof that you paid it then I might be inclined to just ignore them.
Were CSL acting on behalf of Halifax? Most likely would be that CSL/Halifax have messed up and passed the account back out for collection/sale in error.
If you don't want to ignore it then contract the FOS and see if they will write on your behalf with a complaint. Sometimes they will do that for you, even when the full 8 weeks for making a formal complaint through them is not yet up.
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htmWe can help by contacting the business for you, and telling them about your complaint.
MH may ignore you, but if they ignore the FOS and let it go to a full complaint it will costs them £500. 2.5 X the debt.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
