Aldi - Change in Food Quality

These last few weeks Aldi have been changing suppliers of many of their products, sadly this has been for the worse, many items have now become inedible as the quality Aldi once had has been lost.
They used to be comparable with Brands, but since supplier (and that has also meant recipe change) the products are often worse than other supermarkets low-cost basics range.
People in the stores local to me are also moaning and complaining about the change, people are posting on twitter and facebook.
Items we as a family used to enjoy no one will eat anymore.
Bad enough the prices have jumped up recently, but now there are many items now that taste disgusting and wasted.
If I was to do the Which Survey now, I would not be giving the same responses I did earlier.

Maybe go back to basics, buy plain ingredients for everything and cook from scratch? I am very happy with the quality of what I have had from Aldi but I don't often buy things with more than about two 'ingredients', not even breakfast cereal or bread since they are heavily processed.
Last bargain was Aldi balsamic vinegar at half the price of Asda and just as good quality. However my father bought a satay sauce which was not very nice at all, didn't read the ingredients list - largely water, sugar and starch. Shame since it's easy to make your own and he is a good cook.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

LOL
I've always cooked from scratch, bought up to cook from scratch and my kids are taught to cook from scratch.
I never buy ready meals, never have done, never will do.
Every meal I cook every single day is from scratch with fresh or frozen ingredients, I even grow and blanch and freeze my own veg occasionally. Other fresh items I'll freeze myself too.
I even make my own soups.
In fact I encourage people to learn to cook and cook from scratch, often takes only a little more time than crappy ready meals etc.
Just some items I do buy like baked beans (could make my own I suppose) and then some treats now and then.
Everyone comments on how much a good cook I am, but I don't find it difficult to cook properly.0 -
Which items do you feel have become inferior?
I have noticed a change in the chilled garlic bread, not in the quality of flavor, but in the length of best before dates.
They used to be much longer.0 -
I haven't noticed any difference in the quality of any of the items I buy from Aldi so I too would be interested in knowing what you think is not as good as it used to be - then I can avoid it!
The one thing I have noticed, however, is that the sell-by dates on the cooked meats I buy appear much shorter. Similar to Mr S with the garlic bread."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
The cat food is different. Much less variety of tins now and the cat has gone from loving it to not even touching the food now.0

Thats the thing with Aldi/Lidl the supplier can chnage at the drop of a hat. Is a shame as even if its a seller it could put people off buying that particular item again.0

I have done the main shop at Aldi for several years. I track item supplier and price per Kg/L/each and date of highest price. I haven't noticed many changes in supplier and the price highs tend to be from a year before, quite a few from two years previously, even veg. I also continue to enjoy the quality though cannot speak for ready meals nor cat food. I will continue to main shop at Aldi. I would be interested to know examples of products you consider below par. No I don't work for Aldi I just enjoy saving a load of money from paying for fancy wrappings and "brand" names. I don't eat burgers but do enjoy horsemeat when abroad.0

I've been interested in both Aldi threads this week (price rise and this one). What I haven't read are any examples of what exactly has changed supplier and deteriorated. It doesn't seem to apply to what I buy but would help if OP told us what to look out for/avoid.0

We shop in Aldi and have since the one local to us opened, I haven't noticed any change in quality or taste of items. I know alot of the wrappers have changed. Again price wise there has been some fluctuation, but no where remotely close to those at Tesco/Asda/Sainsburys and Morrisons and on the whole I have noticed some in the last 6 months coming down eg tinned tuna-I got a 4 pack for £2.29 today.
We get the cat food and the cats just wolf it down as usual, but I have to say mine are one male one female and there is a bit of push and shove at meal times so I guess it may be that they just try to grab whatever is there before the other one gets it whatever it tastes like lol. It doesn't look or smell any different to me.
Would love for the OP to post which items they are referring to. My suspicious mind wonders why out of the handful of posts the OP has made only 1 wasn't a dig at Aldi? Do you work for Mr T perchance?
The only thing I have noticed is the range of food is widening and its always heaving with customers, even in the week.
